Apple told CNET that this restriction on walk-in purchases might be the case for the foreseeable future, not just as a special launch day circumstance to manage inventory.
Not only does the Apple Watch come in different materials and colors, but the actual watch band and size must be customized as well.
Because of this, Apple stores will hold watch fittings starting April 10th, available by appointment or walk-in on a first-come first-served basis.
If you aren't able to make it out for a fitting, Apple does have an app that lets you take a closer look at the different Apple Watch models, which should come especially in handy for those planning to order the smartwatch online and have it shipped to their home.
We'll let you know once Apple has more details on fitting appointments and online reservations.
