ORIGINAL POST: It appears that Ubisoft is hoping to release an Assassin's Creed movie sometime before the end of 2013. The news comes from Ubi's chief sales and marketing office Geoffroy Sardin, speaking in a recent interview with Gamesindustry International.
Sardin's comment isn't immediately clear on whether or not this 2013 AC movie is the same one that Ubisoft Motion Pictures is currently co-developing with New Regency for Michael Fassbender to star in. That seems unlikely, given that development of a script is only just getting underway as of the last report, from earlier in fall 2012.
Perhaps Ubisoft has some other AC movie in the works then? Sardin's comment about the movie is an offhand remark that fits into a larger discussion of how Ubisoft is handling the transmedia campaign for the series. It's equally likely that Sardin simply misspoke; with the end of 2012 so close at hand, his reference to "a movie in the next coming year" could easily have been a nod to the much more reasonable 2014 timeframe for the Fassbender-starring flick.
Only Ubisoft can set the record straight here. Needless to say, we've reached out for comment and will update this post accordingly when we hear back.
