The first half of 2013 is pretty packed in regards to huge game releases. Look no further than the likes of Grand Theft Auto V, Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider and Gears of War: Judgment to know that there are plenty of AAA games from beloved series to keep your attention for the entire year; but what about some of the less recognised games coming out? Perhaps they don't have the budget to compete or aren't a known franchise but they deserve your attention nonetheless. I'm not saying the following games will be great, but they all have different and interesting ideas and don't deserve to be buried in the crazy release schedule of 2013. Like the 3DS launch earlier this year, Nintendo is coming to New York City to celebrate the release of the Wii U console with a midnight event at the Nintendo World Store. Nintendo of America's Reggie Fils-Aime will be there once again to hype waiting fans, preside over tchotchke giveaways, and ring up the first Wii U sale in the United States.
The event starts at 6pm on November 17, 2012 and runs until the new console is officially released at midnight, at which point those waiting in line will be able to purchase their Wii U on a first-come, first-served basis. Nintendo is also taking advantage of the positive press opp to do some good in the world, selling New York-themed T-shirts bearing Mario's image at the event, with all proceeds from those sales being donated to the American Red Cross in support of ongoing Superstorm Sandy relief efforts.
Nintendo plans on having a big holiday with the release of the Wii U. But you can also expect plenty of 3DS and DS games to play as well.
