Disney Infinity looks to combine the greatest elements from the most creative games in recent years – players can create and modify the world around them much like LittleBigPlanet and Minecraft. Pre-packaged cities permit game modes such as soccer and capture-the-flag, but Disney Infinity appears to be about creating the experience you want from it.
Like those that inspired it, Disney Infinity also looks to be designed as a platform, with franchise-specific expansions to come over time, including iconic locations and characters, as well as additional world-building objects. Presently, it appears Pixar’s Toy Story, Monsters Inc, and The Incredibles will join other major Disney properties, including Pirates of the Caribbean, Wreck-It Ralph, Aladdin, and Frankenweenie.
Disney Infinity is apparently in development at Avalanche Software, whose Toy Story 3: The Video Game mode “Toy Box” inspired a large-scale spinoff.
