Topping the chart is The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, with almost 226,000 units sold on the 3DS. Puzzle & Dragons Z and Pokemon X & Y followed closely behind, with 199,000 and 156,000, respectively, according to Famitsu's sales charts between Dec. 23 and 29.
According to the chart, which was translated on a Neogaf forum, 3DS sales continued to be strong, with almost 209,000 units sold in Japan –– Nintendo's Wii U console sold a little more than 79,000.
Nintendo's high holiday sales follow a worse-than-expected year for the Wii U. Nintendo's sales reports constantly cited the 3DS as the company's flotation device, while the new console sold poorly since its launch. If Nintendo aims to meet the 9 million unit mark it predicted by the end of the 2014 fiscal year in March, it needs to sell 2 million consoles per month.
